2 cups heavy cream
1 cup milk
½ cup sugar
¼ cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
To make the chocolate ice cream:
- Combine the cocoa powder and sugar in a bowl.
- Over medium heat, warm the milk and cream in saucepan.
- When warm, whisk with the milk and cream mixture the cocoa powder and sugar mixture, then, add the vanilla extract. Whisk altogether until the sugar has been dissolved and the mixture is already well-combined.
- Chill the well-combined mixture overnight.
- When ready, start your ice cream maker and pour your combined mixture through the hole in lid.
- Churn the mixture for about 20 to 40 minutes or until your desired consistency.
To make your chocolate ice cream more exciting, you may add about ½ cup mix-ins like chopped walnuts or chocolate chips after churning your ice cream for at least 15 minutes or when the mixture is already thick and has begun to freeze. Then enjoy! It’s great on its own in a bowl, in a cone or even as part of a special treat like a banana split or ice cream sundae.
