Step By Step Instructions For Making Rice in an Automatic Rice Cooker

  • measure riceUsing the cup included in your box, measure the rice according to your desired amount. Allow some space for the expansion to avoid spilling over.
  • Rinse the measured rice to remove dirt or any contaminant that may possibly be in present. After rinsing, fill the bowl with water and remove the floating dirt or bits of rice. Rinse again, the second time.
  • Measure the rice with water, preferably, cold water. The amount of water you add depends on the type of rice to cook and the level of moist you prefer. For white rice with long grains, use 1-3/4 cups water for every 1 cup of rice. For white with a medium grain, use 1-1/2 cups of water for every 1 cup of rice. As for the short-grain, use 1-1/4 cups of water for every 1 cup of rice. If you’re cooking brown with long grains, use 2-1/4 cups of water for every 1 cup of rice. Indian rice requires less water. Use about 1-1/2 cups of water for every one cup of rice. If you previously rinsed it, the measurement of both the rice and water is 1:1.
  • You may soak it for half an hour if you desire although this is not required. Usually, people who prefer stickier rice or those who want to shorten the cooking time, soak their rice before cooking.
  • If the rice cooker you have has a removable pot, place your pot of rice and water in it. Close the lid and plug it in. Turn the switch on by pressing it.
  • You’ll hear a clicking sound when rice is done. Most of them keep the rice warm until they are unplugged.
  • Let it rest for up to 10 minutes before unplugging it.
  • Scoop it up and serve it with your favourite dish.
